Raquel Castro Biography
Raquel Castro is an actress, singer and songwriter from the United States. She is also known for starring in the 2004 film Jersey Girl, as Gertie Trinké, the daughter of Ollie Trinké (Ben Affleck) and Gertrude Steiney (Jennifer Lopez), for which Castro won the Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Feature Film – Young Actress Age Ten or Younger. She was a contestant in the American version of The Voice.
Raquel Castro made her first acting debut in an episode of the television series, Third Watch. Her future career plans veer more toward music than to acting. “I loved acting and I loved becoming a different character,”
Castro says, “but I think music is where my heart is because I am my own character I’m just myself and I get to share my own stories. I can just be myself and be proud of that and just be happy in my own skin.”
She has also appeared in the 2005 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit entitled “Alien” and in the independent film Little Fugitive. Castro as a singer she has released singles cracked Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart as a featured vocalist on Xenia Ghali’s “Places,” and competed on season 1 of NBC’s “The Voice” at age 16, making it into Christina Aguilera’s team.
In 2006, she was cast as Nicole in the music video for the Ludacris song “Runaway Love” with Mary J. Blige, where she plays an abused self-conscious girl who runs away. She later was featured in the 2007 independent film, Tracks of Color.
Her acting career began with the HBO children’s show “A Little Curious” in 2000 and has gone on to include the title role in the Kevin Smith movie “Jersey Girl” (2004), playing Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s daughter, and series work from “Third Watch” to “Empire,” as recurring character Marisol of the girl group Mirage a Trois.

Songland is an American songwriting competition series on NBC that premiered in May 2019.
The show, produced in cooperation with the Universal Television Alternative Studio, 222 Productions, Live Animals Productions and Dave Stewart, sets out to give undiscovered songwriters a chance to create a hit. It gives the viewers a look at the creative process in action.
Contestants are selected to work with producers and a well-known recording artist to release a song. The show tries to elevate the traditional role of the songwriter in the process of creating music from “unpleasant secret” to being the celebrated “magic ingredient”. In September 2019, the series was renewed, and premiered in April 2020.

Castro was a contestant on the first season of the reality television singing competition program The Voice, she was selected in the Blind Audition round and was coached by Christina Aguilera.

A single called “Game Over” was released on January 29, 2013. Castro wrote it with the help of the IDA Program. In 2019, Castro provided vocals for the theme song to the Netflix Original Series Carmen Sandiego.
