He was born on January 24th, 1995 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He was born of Claudia Keech and Roger McAuliffe. He is the cousin to Jacinta John. He went to Scots College in Bellevue Hill.

McAuliffe started his career when he was just 8 years appearing in a comedy, Blue Water High. He then got a role in Packed to the Rafters. He made his debut on American films when he got a role in the movie, Flipped.
