Shelley Kirk Biography

Shelley is a graduate of Purdue University, Harrison High School and Plaza Park School.

Shelley joined News 25 in 1989. She reported for several years before being promoted to anchor in 1994. She currently co-anchors the weekday 5, 6 & 10 PM news. Highlights of her years @ News 25 include reporting from the White House Oval Office, covering a local case before the U.S. Supreme Court & following the Habitat for Humanity housing blitzes of ’92 & ’95.

Shelley also serves as co-host of the annual Easter Seals & Santa Clothes Club telethons. She stays active in several local causes, including Habitat of Evansville, Easter Seals & the American Cancer Society.

Shelley returns to Eyewitness News after a two-year absence working in the Evansville business community.

Shelley brings 22 years of experience in Tri-State television news to the anchor desk. Highlights of her career include 18 years co-anchoring with Brad Byrd, reporting from the White House Oval Office, covering a local case before the U.S. Supreme Court & daily live reporting for the Habitat for Humanity housing blitzes.

Having grown up in Evansville, Shelley knows the Tri-State and believes the people who live, work and volunteer here are what make our area strong. Consequently, giving back is important to her.

She serves on the boards of Easter Seals, Ronald McDonald House, and St. Mary’s Foundation. She also volunteered as co-chair of the 2014 Komen Race for the Cure. Shelley co-hosts the annual Easter Seals & Santa Clothes Club telethons. She stays active in many other local causes.

Kirk anchors air from 5-7 a.m. on WEHT-ABC25, then from 7-8 a.m. on WTVW-Local7, and plans to have some presence on a lifestyle show WTVW airs on Channel 7 from 8-9 a.m.  She replaced Kara Kirtley, who left the station for a position in Louisville, Kentucky, toward the end of the summer. Brad Byrd and Tina Stein will anchor those newscasts.
