He was the the correspondent for ABC News in 1982. He was promoted and became the full time correspondent for PrimeTime Live in December 1989. He would also contribute to reports for 20/20. He now regularly contributes for reports to Primetime. He has recently reported on the controversial R&B artist, R Kelly.

He was awarded an Emmy award in 2000 for outstanding Investigative Journalism for 20/20. He also reported on the Ebola virus tracking it for the first time from the jungle to an international city. He has also led a report in examinations for the desperate search of the AIDS cure and he has done a report on the notorious 1932 Tuskegee experiments.

Schadler rejoined ABC News in 1989 as a full-time correspondent after 2½ years as a contributing correspondent to “PrimeTime Live,” “Nightline,” PBS’ “The AIDS Quarterly With Peter Jennings” and “The Wall Street Journal Report.” He also served as weekend anchor and special projects correspondent for WCVB-TV in Boston and co-founded “Learning Through Video,” a project designed to produce educational videos for public schools.
