Emily Roehler graduated with honors with her bachelor’s in Meteorology from Western Connecticut State University.  She started her weather career in Kearney, Nebraska, spending 2 years in the ‘Good Life’ state forecasting tornadoes, ice storms, and everything in between! After that she made the move to beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado where she spent 4 years forecasting in the challenging mountain terrain at KKTV, hiking fourteeners, and enjoying the beautiful mountain views.

After her time in the Springs, she moved up to Denver where she forecast the weather across the country on the national network, WeatherNation. She is happy to be back in Colorado Springs again with the team at Fox.

She is a Phoenix native, but she does not miss the heat! In her free time, the American native enjoys hiking with her dog, Jax, and is always looking for new trails to explore. She also enjoys cooking and baking, and thrifting old furniture for DIY projects.

She is a huge sci-fi nerd, an obsession that started as a child with Harry Potter. When she is not at work you can usually find her on a trail or binge-watching Game of Thrones.

A familiar face is returning to Colorado Springs television news broadcasts. in September 2018.

Emily Roehler, who had previously worked as a meteorologist for KKTV for four years before leaving for Denver based WeatherNation, is returning to Colorado Springs to work at KXRM/Fox 21.

“Emily continues to strengthen the knowledge and presentation skills of the Fox 21 Storm Team and the commitment we have to the people of southern Colorado,” said Fox 21 chief meteorologist Matt Meister. “Emily broadcasts with a smooth, comfortable and conversational delivery.” Roehler will be the station’s new evening meteorologist.

She will be joining the evening news team on the (5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m). broadcasts beginning in October. She replaces Jeff Womack(who left Fox 21 in June).

“I’m very excited to join the team,” said Roehler. “I enjoy living and working in Colorado Springs and am happy to be coming back to work in a city I love so much.”

Emily Roehler leaves KKTV

KKTV meteorologist Emily Roehler, who had been with the station for four years, announced via Twitter today that she is leaving Colorado Springs.

“It’s my last day on the weather wall at KKTV11News,” Roehler said on Twitter this morning. “Thank you for joining me for the weather for the last 4 years, I’ve loved my time here and I’m not moving too far. I’ll have more updates in the coming weeks.”

Roehler later stated on Twitter that she was leaving the station for Weather Nation, which is based out of Centennial, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. Today was her last day on air for KKTV.

Roehler came to Colorado from Kearney, Nebraska, where she worked as a meteorologist for two years. Prior to that attended Western Connecticut State University, graduating cum laude with a degree in meteorology.

“We are sad to see Emily go but so excited for her future,” said KKTV general manager Liz Haltiwanger. “She’s been a wonderful part of our KKTV family and we wish her the best.”

FOX21 News hires Emily Roehler as evening meteorologist

Roehler will join the evening news team in early October and will handle the 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. broadcasts.

“Emily brings a unique weather knowledge to FOX21, having already served in the Colorado Springs-Pueblo market previously with KKTV,” FOX21 News Director Joe Cole said.

FOX21 Meteorologist Maddie Kirker will continue to work the weekday evening shift until Roehler makes her on-air debut in early October. Kirker and Chester the Weather Dog will then resume their role on the popular FOX21 Weekend Morning News show.
